One of the most fun interviews I ever did

Photo Credit Alan Berner / The Seattle Times

That picture above is of Pierre Sundborg. He's a retired engineer here in Seattle who, a few years ago, decided to ride every Metro bus line in numerical order end-to-end. Seriously.

Last week, the Seattle Times wrote a really sweet piece about him. I just read it, and I sat here grinning like a dork the whole time. I could hear Pierre telling stories and laughing while I read the article. He actually called me a couple of weeks ago to tell me the article was coming out. I asked him if he was looking forward to it, and he laughed and said "This is your fault! I don't know whether to thank you or blame you."

Pierre is one of the people I feel ridiculously lucky to have met. My job isn't always sunshine and roses, but getting to talk to somebody like him is about the greatest thing ever. And I love that someone else asked about his story. I'm happy to get blamed for that.

I met Pierre at a fundraiser a while back. What a great guy. I think Steve's had him on, too.

You're the reason I knew about him! You told Steve about him, and then Steve told me. He'd never booked him but he thought about it. I heart Pierre.

The Seattle Times did a great job--I haven't met him, but they didn't make him out to be a kook (he is obviously not) nor exactly an eccentric. He's clearly a guy who enjoys life, and has found a neat way to get out and about and meet people.

As opposed to the guy who doesn't like coffee who has made it his ADD/OCD goal in life to visit every single one of them. Fortunately, *$ has made it much easier on him by slating 600 stores for closure and backing off on expansion. Very considerate of them.

Thanks for posting this. Hadn't heard it before and it was very interesting. I recently started riding the bus to work and he's right about getting a peek into local cultures I normally wouldn't bump into.
